Quick guide to the technical forum

A programme of 1 hour, monthly seminars where staff can hear about and discuss key issues relevant to NICE.

What is it for?

Our Science Policy and Research Programme organise our technical forum sessions. They provide space and time for teams across NICE to learn about scientific developments and science policy issues. This helps teams stay up to date with the development and application of new methods. It also helps raise awareness of methodological issues that affect our work.

Hot topics

Each technical forum covers a different topic and is led by a guest speaker with relevant expertise. This could be an external speaker, such as an academic presenting their research. Or it could be an internal speaker, where a member of NICE staff presents their work.

Although most sessions cover technical topics relating to methodological issues, some cover broader and non-technical topics.

Previous sessions have covered:

  • incorporating affordability concerns within cost-effectiveness analysis for health technology assessment
  • what you want to know about a medicine and what can we reliably estimate?

Abstracts are available shortly before the session on the technical forum page of NICE Space. You can find presentation slides from previous sessions there too. The topic and presenter information is included in Your Week@NICE the week before.
